LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park – tickets, prices, what to expect

LEGOLAND Florida is a theme park designed specifically for families with young children. This is the most important thing to know: the park is built for kids aged 2 through 12.

While other Orlando parks focus on big thrills, LEGOLAND focuses on creative play, family rides, and shows. It is located in Winter Haven, which is about a 45-minute drive from the main Disney World area in Orlando.

Crucial 2025 Updates

  • NEW: SEA LIFE Florida Aquarium: Opened in Spring 2025, this is a brand-new, indoor aquarium located right at the resort. It features a 360-degree ocean tunnel, a touch pool, and over 25 exhibits. This is a separate attraction from the main theme park.
  • NEW: LEGO Festival: A new event runs on weekends from May 3 to June 8, 2025, with interactive play zones, live music, and new LEGO builds.
  • Hotel Updates: The LEGOLAND Hotel has new LEGO Friends and NINJAGO-themed rooms.

Understanding the 4 LEGOLAND Parks

This is the most confusing part for new visitors. The “LEGOLAND Florida Resort” is actually made of four separate parks, and you must buy the correct ticket for each one.

  1. LEGOLAND Theme Park: This is the main park with all the rides and MINILAND USA. This guide focuses on this park.
  2. Peppa Pig Theme Park: A separate, gated park for toddlers and preschoolers. It is located right next to LEGOLAND but requires its own ticket or a “combo ticket.”
  3. LEGOLAND Water Park: A full water park with slides and a lazy river. It is located inside the main LEGOLAND Theme Park, but you must have a “Water Park Combo” ticket to enter. It is also seasonal (usually closed from November to February).
  4. SEA LIFE Florida: The new aquarium. This will also require a combo ticket to visit along with the theme park.

Tickets and Prices

The Golden Rule: Buy Online

NEVER buy your tickets at the front gate. You will pay $30 to $50 more per ticket. Always buy online at least 1-2 days in advance.

Ticket Tiers Explained

Prices change every day based on the season.

  • 1-Day, 1-Park Ticket:
    • This gets you into only the LEGOLAND Theme Park.
    • Online prices start around $64 (slow season) to $124+ (peak season).
  • 1-Day Combo Tickets:
    • You can buy a ticket for “2 Parks” (e.g., LEGOLAND + Peppa Pig) or “3 Parks” (LEGOLAND + Peppa Pig + Water Park).
  • 2-Day Combo Tickets (Best Value):
    • These are often the best deal. A 2-Day ticket for 2 parks (like LEGOLAND and the new SEA LIFE) might only cost $79 per person.
    • It is almost always cheaper to buy a 2-day combo ticket than two separate 1-day tickets.
  • All-Inclusive Package: LEGOLAND sometimes offers an all-inclusive hotel package that includes your room, park tickets, meals, and other extras.

Opening Hours & Best Time to Visit

LEGOLAND is not open 365 days a year.

  • Typical Hours: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Holidays & Summer: Hours are often extended to 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM.
  • IMPORTANT: Planned Closures: LEGOLAND is often closed on select Wednesdays during the slower months (September, October, November, December). You must check the official park calendar for your specific dates.
  • Best Time to Arrive: Be at the gates 30 minutes before opening.

Must-Do Attractions (Theme Park)

The rides here are called “pink-knuckle” rides—exciting for kids, but gentle for adults.

For “Kid” Thrill Seekers

  • The Great LEGO Race: A fun roller coaster where you can wear optional VR (virtual reality) goggles to feel like you are racing against LEGO characters. (Height: 42″)
  • The Dragon: The park’s most famous “big” coaster. It starts as a dark ride inside a castle and then goes on a fun, winding outdoor track. (Height: 40″)
  • Flying School: A suspended roller coaster where your feet hang free. It is a quick but exciting ride. (Height: 44″)
  • Coastersaurus: A classic wooden roller coaster in the Land of Adventure. (Height: 42″)

For Family Adventures

  • LEGO NINJAGO The Ride: An interactive 3D ride where you use your hands to throw “fireballs” and “ice” at screens to defeat villains. It is a family favorite.
  • Lost Kingdom Adventure: A slow-moving ride where you use laser guns to shoot at targets and score points.
  • Safari Trek: Ride in a LEGO jeep past huge, life-sized LEGO animals like giraffes, elephants, and lions.
  • Driving School: A classic LEGOLAND ride where kids aged 6–13 drive their own electric cars on real streets. (There is a separate, smaller version for kids aged 3–5).

For Toddlers (DUPLO Valley)

DUPLO Valley is the dedicated land for your youngest children. It includes:

  • DUPLO Train: A gentle train ride.
  • DUPLO Tractor: Kids can drive small tractors on a set path.
  • The “Tot Spot”: An indoor, air-conditioned play area with soft bricks and small slides.

The Heart of the Park

  • MINILAND USA: Do not skip this! It is an amazing, shaded area where you can see detailed LEGO models of U.S. cities like New York, Las Vegas, and Washington D.C.

Dining Guide

  • Famous Treat: Granny’s Apple Fries. These are warm, fried apple sticks served with vanilla cream. They are the most famous snack in the park.
  • Best Lunch: Firehouse Ribs & Grille. Serves good-quality BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches.
  • Pro-Tip: You Can Bring Your Own Food! LEGOLAND allows you to bring your own soft-sided coolers with snacks, small meals, and bottled water. This can save a family a lot of money.

3 Essential Tips for LEGOLAND

  1. Bring LEGO Minifigures for Trading: This is the best-kept secret. Both kids and adults can bring any LEGO Minifigure from home and trade it with any park employee (called “Model Citizens”). You can find rare or fun figures this way, and it is completely free!
  2. Plan for the Drive: Remember, the park is in Winter Haven, not Orlando. You must plan for the 45-60 minute drive each way.
  3. Know Your Child’s Height: So many rides have height requirements between 36 and 44 inches. Measure your child before you go to avoid disappointment at the ride entrance.
